Painting the Night Sky: The Quiet Night in Watercolor & Gouache with Deborah Stein 8/24
Painting the Night Sky: The Quiet Night in Watercolor & Gouache with Deborah Stein 8/24
To welcome August's Sturgeon Moon and to honor the sparkling night skies of summer in New Mexico, the luminous moon, the glittering stars, infinite space and the shimmering full moon light, this beautiful workshop was born. We’ll consider the New Mexico desert at night and all the alive things that lurk there, sleep and dreams, the question:what is silence in our paintings? and react to fun prompts about nighttime to create inspired night scenes and painted stories.
With the beautiful handmade watercolors of LDBA you’ll learn how to incorporate deep darks and light lights to make luminous depictions of nighttime. You’ll play with Deborah’s Quiet Night Palette designed for LDBA and a workshop by the same name and explore the properties of different paint colors. You’ll get to enjoy the many ways of creating the glow of moonlight in the dark, the myriad ways of depicting stars and explore in depth the beauty, subtleties and differences of many of LDBA’s sparkling metallic, glow-in-the-dark and fluorescent paint lines!
We’ll dip brushes into gouache and acrylic paint too to take a look at how these paints can be used with watercolor in much the same way I do in my paintings.
No experience necessary and all materials provided!
