Colcha Embroidery with Camille Lubach 6/28/25

$185.00

This intro to colcha embroidery class will teach the fundamentals of the historical, simple couching stitch. Participants will learn a brief history of colcha before selecting patterns inspired by local flora and fauna.

Colcha originated in the Southwestern United States, reflecting the traditions and culture of the region with its economic use of fiber (there are no knots) and wool thread naturally dyed with chamisa, cota, indigo, and cochineal.

Students will learn a step-by-step process of this traditional embroidery, creating beautiful textiles with the ability to continue this practice on their own.

All materials, including churro wool sabanilla woven in Española, are provided. All skill levels are welcome.

Camille Lubach holds a degree in Studio Art and Spanish. She turns careful observation into sculpture, illustration, and mixed media artworks. They currently work as a museum guide at SITE Santa Fe.
