Originally from the Cote D’Azur in France, this very light violet slate powder is from Mels, Switzerland. Contains iron and manganese. This color is found in Italian paintings and also north of the Alps, where the brothers Asam used it in churches for the cloaks of angels and saints. Think almost ripe figs, or of the color that happens when someone you love is tired, that delicate light purple bruising under the eyes. Translucent and a bit sand textured, this paint is among my favorites.
