The Art of Noticing: A Wildflower Workshop with Deborah Stein 9/7/24
The Art of Noticing: A Wildflower Workshop with Deborah Stein 9/7/24
A quiet morning workshop about experiencing the beauty of slowing down with paper and water, color and brush, needle and thread as we practice the art of simple book binding and watercolor painting.
It will be a chance for presence as we take note of the world around us. We’ll surround you with beautiful flowers and wildflowers from Northern New Mexico, learn how to make simple journals and find all kinds of beautiful ways to fill them: with written and painted notes and observations, colors, scribbles, collage, flowers pressings, and of course your own sights and insights into the natural world.
Deborah will be your guide and encourager. She’ll inspire you in myriad ways and surprise you into surprising yourself as we loosen our grip on our brushes and paint gorgeous early Fall wildflowers and blooming plants in water + color. Weather permitting, we’ll take our journals and paint outside to observe what’s growing around The Petit Ecolé and in the cracks of Canyon Road’s sidewalks.
Best of all there will be advice for using watercolor in all kinds of fun ways, especially to suit your own unique way of working.
All skill levels welcome and materials provided and but feel free to bring your favorite paintbrush, glue stick and LDBA palette!
