The Quiet Night w/ Deborah Stein 7/22
The Quiet Night w/ Deborah Stein 7/22
In this workshop we’ll use the incredible handmade paint of LDBA to paint the dark: the summer night sky and it’s moon, stars, space and moonlight and consider its inhabitants— the real (and imagined!) nocturnal animals, humans and plants that occupy space at night.
We’ll use the LDBA’s beautiful handmade watercolors and play with touches of the METALLICS line! We’ll explore their different properties, experiment with ways of creating light, beauty and fun with dark and light and also dip our brushes into gouache and acrylic paint to experiment with ways these can be used to play with a mixed media approach in much the same way I do in my paintings.
We’ll consider silence, sleep and dreams, react to fun prompts about nighttime to create inspired night scenes and painted stories. The bonus is we’ll have an in-depth discussion about paper and feel and learn about its different properties. We’ll also practice glazing techniques and drawing with paint to create beautiful fun paintings depicting dark sky country and all the things and silences that lurk there.
Some watercolor experience is helpful but not necessary. All materials provided.
