Plein Air at the Rose Gardens in Oil Pastel 7/9
Plein Air at the Rose Gardens in Oil Pastel 7/9
Join us among the roses at the Harvey Cornell Rose park for a wonderful plein air class. Instructor Cynthia Young will advise you on how to create landscapes with oil pastels that have a nod to Seurat with layers of colors applied with small strokes. With 20 different varieties of roses, a fountain and many trees you will be filled with inspiration. All materials will be provided so that you can just focus on expressing your creativity. You will be guided in how to choose focal points and layer color to create vibrant works of art. By painting on site we will be in the grand tradition of the early Impressionists who believed painting from life was the best way to capture a subject. Students will meet at the gardens at 11am and will be provided with a set of Sennelier oil pastels. We are looking forward to a beautiful day with each if you! See you in the garden!
All materials provided. All skill levels welcome.
Cynthia has a BFA in painting and is currently living and creating in Santa Fe. She has experience painting every subject matter with a focus on landscapes and portraits.
