Collage & Painting with Suzanne Sbarge 4/12/25

Collage & Painting with Suzanne Sbarge 4/12/25

$200.00

In this 4-hour workshop, we will get in the zone of the imagination. Collage has a rich history and is used by contemporary artists around the world today. It can be a liberating and adventurous way of working that is full of surprises, guided by intuition and the unconscious. Collage is often

associated with the Dada movement (born in Europe during World War I), which is known for disrupting logic and defying aesthetic categories.

In this spirit, we will play, experiment, and get familiar with techniques of combining collage and painting. We will use Flashe (made by LeFranc Bourgeois) and watercolors made here at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts. Flashe is a matte, opaque, water-based paint with extra vibrant tones. Participants will work with new and old collage materials – spanning vintage imagery to the ephemera of contemporary life – to explore diverse styles and directions from narrative to abstract.

All skills levels are welcome. Materials are included, and participants are encouraged to bring their own collage materials to add to the mix.
